Too many of their kind had fallen in the final battle that they were in danger of becoming extinct forever. Now all that's left of them are traces of their crumbling cities, fully consumed by nature, and whispers of their name in the breeze that blows through the deepest of forests. Memories of them turned into legend, and from legend to myth, and as the ages passed, from myth to the crumbling scraps of parchment held by the remaining mages of mankind. They were completely forgotten.

Mankind rose from the ashes of the Great Battle and it's Kings brought forth the Fourth Dominion of mankind. It was a time of great peace, when industry and commerce flourished.

Adventurers set out on ships for the distant unknown from time to time. Most never return, and the ones that do increasingly bring back tales of a distant land of great cities and palaces that they glimpsed through the mists of the high seas. None of these sailors were able to navigate to them despite their best efforts.

But this peace also bought about discontent, long retired from their services to the Kings, the Mage Council sought to scheme and plot, until one day a mysterious scroll was discovered - written by a race of beings now forgotten. Once deciphered, the mages sent out a secret expedition to the forbidden lands, to the ruins of the former daemon capital, trying to gather what powers there were for themselves. The entire expedition was destroyed in an accident and within a fortnight, the great daemon himself was brought back to life.

The armies of man, now weakened by centuries of peace, was no match against the resurrected Burning Legion. Mankind was brought to it's knees, it's cities and villages sacked. With all it's Kings vanquished, the Fourth Dominion crumbled and mankind was reduced to nothing but a race of slaves under the Dark One.

Human adventurers no longer left the ports for the distant unknown, for there were none to do so.

Having satisfied their blood lust, the Burning Legion was reduced to petty in-fighting among their clans.

Untill one day, a scout ship of strange design was spotted off-shore, searching for the human adventurers that failed to visit their lands for so long.

The Legion quickly sent out their dreadnaughts and sank this ship after a costly battle.

It would prove to be a big mistake for the Legion. At dawn, almost 3 weeks later, human fisherfolk of the Eastern Ocean found their seas covered by warships to the ends of the horizons.

A great Horde was upon them, and all of the Legion's garrisons along the eastern cities began to flee in terror.
